Hearts for Heroes Fun Days

 

What is Fun Days?  Fun Days is our biggest fundraising event for missions. This year will be the 24th annual event and the proceeds will go to Hearts & Hammers in providing new homes for local disabled veterans and their families.  See more below. 

 

Schedule of Events

Friday, May 17

 BBQ Dinner 4–7 pm

BBQ Plate $8 (includes BBQ, beans, slaw and drink)

BBQ Sandwiches $8 (includes 2 sandwiches and drink); 

Kids’ Hot Dog Plate  $3 (Age 3 & under free)

*Drive-Thru Service Available (drinks not included)

Live Auction 7 pm   Previous auction items have included gift certificates from restaurants, hotels and area attractions, theme baskets, signed sports and NASCAR memorabilia, Panther tickets, along with many other exciting items!

Silent Auction 4–6:45 pm

 

Saturday, May 18

Bake Sale & Yard Sale 7 am

5K Run/Walk 8 am   $25 advance registration or $35 day of race (t-shirt included) Additional fundraising is optional but a suggested goal of $25.00 is encouraged. The top 2 fundraisers will receive prizes. Click here to register for the 5k.

Carnival Games 10 am – 2 pm

50/50 Raffle Drawing 2 pm  Drawing will be held at 2 pm.  Need not be present to win.

This Year's Recipient:

   100% of this year's proceeds will benefit Hearts & Hammers. Hearts & Hammers is a construction ministry of Independence Hill Baptist Church that began in 1989. In years past Hearts & Hammers has completed large-scale, week-long projects such as Angels & Sparrows Soup Kitchen, Battered Women’s Shelter expansion, Nutrition Coalition expansion, and the Charlotte Chinese Baptist Church.  Over the last three years Hearts & Hammers has taken on smaller, more frequent projects such as building handicap ramps, roof repair and replacement, and various home improvements to those in need.

This year, in partnership with four other organizations, Hearts & Hammers will be providing new homes for disabled veterans and their families.  The homes will be built on five lots that are already owned by Hearts & Hammers in Denver, NC. The five lots all being in the same community provides a great opportunity for veterans to have neighbors who can truly relate to each other’s experiences.

The other organizations involved with this project are:
