I don’t know if everyone is like this but I often battle feelings of isolation. Even believing that everyone is against me. During those times a lyric like, “just a puppet on a lonely string, oh, who would ever want to be king”, seems to describe what I’m thinking.

But I know this isn’t unique to church leaders. Anyone can struggle with the sense of walls closing in and everyday is a battle. When we have responsibility, we will experience resistance. Those that oppose us may take the form of a boss, co-worker or even our children! If you have responsibility, you will have resistance!

Today let’s remember what God told Paul. “Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me. And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” – 2 Corinthians 12:8-10

Grace is sufficient. Strength perfected in weakness. You are not a puppet on a lonely string. You are the child of the King in Christ Jesus. May His power strengthen us today!
